Healing our hearts
How broken hearts can help us grow with the four basic elements, earth, fire, water and air.
However, there is a part of the wound that is emotional and energetic and even after the traumatic event has been forgotten, the wound may still be limiting our behavior in some way. Therefore a person may wish to explore that event in therapy, and even become a therapist themselves in the pursuit of understanding their wounding, but it is vitally important that they treat their wounds first before considering helping others with their pain.
We carry wounds for so many different reasons and although we continue with our daily routines we forget that the wound may be restricting us in some way, for example, failure to achieve, an abusive spouse or the neglect from a parent in early childhood. We can try and cover our wounds up but it doesn’t necessarily heal our hearts and many of us go through life with chips on our shoulders as we become detached and unaware of how to heal what we feel has been taken away from us.
Experiencing loss has a major impact on our souls, in particular when we give ourselves away to someone in a relationship that doesn’t return the same level of commitment back. We can feel torn from the breakup, almost as if a part of ourselves has gone missing, and we may then even blame our ex partners for taking away the part of ourselves that seems irretrievable and impossible to claim back. It’s no wonder that so many of us find it hard to trust after having our hearts torn, but surprisingly we are consciously aware of what we want and what we don’t want.
We feel what we feel and we do what we do in order to expand and in order to grow and sometimes in order to grow or in order to break apart cycles we almost need to have our hearts broken. If we didn’t go through the process of having a broken heart then we wouldn’t know what it was that we truly wanted and nor would we be able to learn anything about ourselves or those around us. Life coaches and spiritualist healers have almost always gone through huge amounts of stress, heartbreak and pain and going back to the old saying “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” speaks for itself, because if we didn’t go through these experiences then how would we be able help others?
But heart break is an overpowering, traumatic feeling and at the time of heartbreak we often feel as if there is no way out and that the walls are caving in on us, but passion and perspective is something we never see happening at the same time , therefore our passions are what lead us to some of the greatest perspectives and ultimately time is the only thing we have on our side when it comes to such painful matters of the heart, like with any wound, we must allow ourselves the space to heal.
According to the Institute of Applied Meditation we need energy replacements in our lives first so that we can heal the heartache that we are going through, they advise that in order to heal the wounds of the heart energetically, we need to smooth out the magnetic field, filling in the magnetic holes of despair and folding in the magnetic flares of anxiety and rage. To change energy, we need to apply energy. Many things affect the magnetic field, but the best way to heal it is through meditation on energy flowing through the heart which helps to ease up the feeling of “hitting your head against a brick wall”.
At IAM, they use four kinds of energy that flow in different directions and have different effects. The ancients called these energies Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Today we know them also as types of subtle energy, or spirit. One kind of wound can be healed by Fire energy, another by Water energy; Earth energy calms all flares of disturbance, and Air energy evens out the energy field. Sometimes we can have too much Air or too much Water in our lives or Earth or Fire, this is why different energies with different elements come into our lives, so that they can help us to replace what we have lost out on in the previous relationship.
For example, you may have come out of a relationship with a Fire sign where you experienced too much rage and very high levels of energy, therefore you might expect a water sign to come in to nurture your needs a little and soothe the pain in your next relationship. There are many ways in which we can heal our own hearts and if we bring it back to the basic elements of Earth, Fire, Water and Air we can begin to understand the process of heartbreak in a completely different light. If you have just come out of a heartbreaking situation why not study the astrological sign and think about the qualities of that person and then consider your own star sign. There is always a reason as to why people come into our lives.
Here is a quick breakdown:
Earth energies are practical and stable: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo - they are usually organized, money orientated and pragmatic. They can find it hard to express emotion.
Fire signs are fiery and dramatic: Leo, Aries, Sagittarius- they are usually childish, energetic, upbeat, argumentative, hard working and passionate.
Water signs are feeling based and romantic, Scorpio, Pisces, Cancer - they are usually emotionally involved with everything they do, artistic, nurturing, sensitive, loving and compassionate.
Air signs are analytical and like to think, Aquarius, Gemini and Libra - they are usually good analyzers, thinkers, speakers and can adapt easily.
