Sex as a healer

Sex can be a difficult subject to get round, yet is one of the most natural things we can do. It is considered to be an enormous energy booster and big stress reliever as it allows you to get rid of all the unwanted feelings you have picked up throughout the day and is also known to be a great cure for headaches. People are said to feel healthier and happier within themselves if they have a good sex life and is also said to relieve pain and boost the immune system, not only that but sex can be a great work out and is said to burn at least 4.2 calories a minute!
Through sex we can also discover things about ourselves.

For example, the feelings we produce during sex, our limits and our boundaries, how much we give of ourselves to our partners and most of all what makes us tick. Sex has many healing qualities because we are receiving and giving love and affection. Sex is the moment where you let go and can even release something extraordinary, perhaps something you were oblivious to before. Author Deepak Chopra says that sexual energy is the primal and creative energy of the universe. All things that are alive come from sexual energy. In animals and other life forms, sexual energy expresses itself as biological creativity. In humans, sexual energy can be creative at all levels -- physical, emotional and spiritual. In any situation where we feel attraction, arousal, awakening, alertness, passion, interest, inspiration, excitement, creativity, enthusiasm sexual energy is at work.

Sex between two people allows them to connect with their inner souls and share something incredibly personal. The beauty of sex is that no words are usually required and body language takes over where our feelings guide us in the right direction and many of us may feel closer to something more spiritual and more powerful during sex. Another author, Walter Last talks about our sexuality as opening our hearts to love. He explains that it enables us to have experiences similar to meditative states and mystical bliss. In a less obvious way, sexual energies can be channeled upward to develop our energy centers or chakra system and higher energy bodies. According to esoteric and yoga teachings, this is all part of our spiritual evolution.

Being spiritual usually means experiencing the formation of higher energy bodies and sex can often lead to a feeling of “higher self” and when we experience intense feelings of love and compassion for our partners we often describe it as being “Indescribable” because it is a feeling that is highly spiritual and has divine healing qualities. When we open our heart centres (heart chakras) we leave ourselves open to receiving true, spiritual love in all forms. Sexual energies can actually be channelled in all different kinds of ways, it is believed that sex is part of our spiritual evolution, our undying passions.

Yoga and meditation techniques have been known to transform sexual energy into kundalini - spiritual energy. For example, Karezza is a western practice and is known as a spiritual love meditation that can be adopted for spiritual sex. In the history of Greece there is a tradition of temple priestesses who have helped spiritual seekers with ceremonial sex ( but unfortunately this has been used or misused in various cults) But on the whole, sexual energy is known to be a part of our hidden kundalini energy.

Accoriding to the The Karezza Method the functions of sex are read as three:
1. First: to feed and rejuvenate by contact-pressure (perhaps by a sort of catalysis) and a mysterious generation, interchange and mutual exchange of subtle processes and forces.
2. Second: physical reproduction - child-creation.
3. Third: soul-union, the mystery of love, affection, spiritual-companionship, mental-inspiration. (Spiritual growth by developing chakra system)

Many of us will of course be able to relate to the third function of the Karezza Method, which is When sex feels sacred and gives a divine innocence to the moment, a satisfying sweetness of recollection in the memory. The Karezza Method talks about sex only being satisfying when it is absolutely free, and is a mutual consent at every moment of its being and on both sides there is kindness, consideration, expression and love. But overall in all its normal aspects sex is creative and uniting, it is warm, generous and life-giving and is usually an empowering, pleasurable experience, which some people may consider to be a spiritual and healing experience!
