I'm Lily Kay, and I'm a tarot reader and intuitive psychic. I've been reading the tarot for almost 30 years, having first been taught by my mother when I was a child. I come from a long line of psychics and mediums so, for me, psychic work has always been part of my life. I began working as a professional psychic and healer in 2004 and over the years I have taught hundreds of students to connect with their intuitive skills and helped countless clients navigate times of change. I believe that a good reading, delivered with empathy and guidance from spirit, can bring clarity and support at even the most difficult of times.

What do you like most about giving readings to clients?

My favourite thing about readings is that people usually seek them out when they are coming to a crossroad of some kind - readings are a great support during transformative times. I love to be present for those moments when clients are willing to connect with themselves and their path, to gain new understanding. There is no greater honour than being of service to someone as they heal, gain clarity and step forward into the next chapter.

How would you say you are typical of your star sign?

I'm a Leo, and am quite typical of that fiery sun sign! I am outgoing, friendly and I'm always interested in people's thoughts and feelings. Like all Leos I value honesty and loyalty, and I always want to seek out clarity and light in any situation.

When do you remember being first aware of your gift?

I'm not sure I remember not being aware, I grew up in a home where mediumship and psychic tarot readings were normal so there was no strangeness to what I experienced - in fact it was encouraged. I definitely remember getting a huge increase in my psychic sensitivity when I first left home at 18 - suddenly I was seeing spirits and auras without trying. I was still reading tarot cards but my visionary senses became much more heightened, as did my ability to feel people's intentions and know things people were trying to hide. It prompted me to learn as much as a possible so that I was able to turn it on and off when I needed, which started me on a lifelong path of spiritual development.

What is your most memorable experience with a client?

There are so many! One favourite was a reading for a married client asking for guidance. The cards showed a terrible break in the marriage and, like all readers, I don't like to give bad news. It turns out it wasn't news at all - she was fully aware and was already making arrangements, but had called for affirmation of her decision. Then the reading took a new turn, showing a new course of study coming into her life. I was trying to describe what I saw and my description was the name of the course of study (I'd never heard of it before). The next oracle card was the name of the school where the course was being taught. My client was blown away, as she'd been wanting to do it but didn't think it was possible to get on the course that year, especially with her attention and energy being on the impending divorce! I assured her she would be on that course and to contact them. Within a few days, a place opened up for her on the waiting list, and the funds came to her unexpectedly as well. She is now finishing the most advanced course that school offers and preparing to step into a new career. Readings like this stick in my mind because the reading acknowledged her difficulties so I could honour where she was at in that moment, and then flowed through into the positive news actions she could take so I could give her useful, empowering guidance.

What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?

I work as a Reiki and shamanic healer, so it is very common for client's spirit guides and ancestors to come through and add to the reading, giving additional guidance and comfort. Sometimes readings can bring up difficult choices and questions for the client, and I have years of experience holding that space and helping clients to release pain and come back to a space of peace and calm. My years of teaching spiritual development work mean I am able to give simple tools and guidance for my clients to take away with them, so they can keep the magic flowing after the reading.

What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?

The best readings empower clients - remember that no future is set in stone, the real gift you can receive is the opportunity to connect with your own power, choices and potential. I encourage clients to come with a goal or a question, but to also be open to what comes through in the moment. It's your reading - if you want to ask follow up questions or refocus the reading, do it - remember that we are here to serve you, in the best way we can. Be open and honest about what you're seeking - that enables a stronger connection between you and your reader and helps you get the best from us. Also...bring a notepad!
