About Maggie Ray
When I was a child, my mother had some close friends who attended a Spiritualist Church. I remember lying in bed when my mother had visitors and eavesdropping on their conversations. My mother had psychic abilities herself, but I noticed as I got older that she disconnected with any links with the Spiritualists, refused to discuss psychic topics and would proclaim it was all "a load of rubbish". I never really found out (despite asking) why this was: maybe she got frightened one day or maybe she just didn't want it in her life? Irrespective of that, as I grew older, I noticed that she was an expert in judging people's character, plus being her daughter, I used to get tokens of advice which were psychic in their origins. As I got into my teenage years, I developed a fascination with past lives, hauntings, and reading about famous psychics who had attended the police in solving crimes. Being an avid reader, I found myself reading a book on Tarot one day, but I didn't buy my first deck until I was in my late 20s. I knew I was an empath when I was younger but considered a claim to being clairvoyant or a Tarot reader as being wild! Dare I make that claim? I saw psychics or clairvoyants as being really special and knowing absolutely everything. Everything about anything, anytime, anyplace, anywhere! It was only as I progressed into my 30s and 40s and started reading for friends and family that I gained more confidence. However, I noticed that not all family and friends were keen on the Tarot, plus I like requests to read - I don't really like to feel too "nosy" with the Tarot unless it concerns something relative to me. I found as I got older that I wanted the experience of reading for people at their request, with their concerns being voiced.
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
I see any Spiritualist (whether that's a Medium, Clairvoyant, Tarot Reader, or Astrologer etc.) as being a healer on a fundamental level and I see Tarot as being a self-empowerment tool really. I love the "wild ride" with my clients, the variety, the melting-pot, the energy, the bond with my regulars, and the learning experience with regards to being non-judgemental and the acceptance of our differing views of the world: I learn from my clients as well as attempting a 100% commitment to a good reading for them. I'm in my 50s now and I don't feel I'll leave this earth knowing all there is to know about Tarot. Typically, there are 78 cards in a deck, yet millions of people and a billion way to read the cards. I find that so fascinating.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
Difficulty making decisions in the best interests of everybody concerned is typical of being a Libran, as they tend to be fair and just. Also, being represented by the Scales which signify Balance - everything has to be "just so" with me: the right amount of sleep, work-life balance, etc. If I'm out of sync, I tend to be really grumpy! I find that Air signs tend to have good conversational skills with diplomacy, and I would consider myself a confident person with superb communication skills with the ability to converse with a wide range of different people. I'm also very down-to-earth: no snobbery with me.
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
I knew I was a different when I was young, but I didn't tag the name "Empath" to this until I was in my 30s and actually accepted my clairsentience and telepathy.
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
Quite soon after starting readings, I had an elderly regular whose enthusiasm and zest for life was astonishing. She would regularly call me about any romantic opportunities forthcoming plus the potential of her writing as she was an author. She had psychic abilities herself and we really used to "fly away" sometimes with our conversations. She was very interesting to talk to - our chat would encompass past-lives, the akashic records, and astral travel. She was adopted as a child, middle-to-upper class and I just knew she was a beautiful person, inside and out. Events took a turn one day when she asked me to do a reading about her Royal parentage - she was convinced she had royal blood. I politely explained that it was too long ago for me to pick anything up: I didn't want to burst her bubble. I don't feel she was connected to Royalty but ....
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
To see the open spectrum of a giant melting-pot of different readers with different abilities. The way a reader gets their messages varies. As well as being a reader, I seek readings myself from time to time. Some have made me laugh, some have made me cry, some I've had a good chat, some I've found totally amazing, some have picked up on the deceased, some I've found not so good, but I've given them a chance to heal me. If the caller could try to see that there could be hundreds of readers with thousands of things to say, with even more ways to say it. Which one shall I choose? See it as fun on the one hand and serious on the other because the Universe may lead you to the reader who is wonderful for you.
